forsythia

Acorn No 44
Spring 2020

I've tried composing a forsythia haiku for several years.  As one of the first harbingers of spring here in Ohio, they punctuate the gray landscape with their exuberance and always bring about a lifting of spirits.  Finally, I got my inspiration from my granddaughters.  In haiku, we often simply place two images side by side and leave it up to the reader to make the connection with their own stories.  Perhaps you have your own feelings about forsythia and the exuberance of small children.  Thank you to Susan Antolin and Acorn for publishing this haiku!
